There is no doubt that technology is taking over our world. Homes are getting smarter and smarter and the kitchen is no exception. You can control your whole kitchen through your phone or with your voice with devices such as Amazon Alexa and Google Home. Here are some of the smart features you can include in your kitchen remodeling project:
Sink Faucet – Touchless faucets with wave sensors have been around for several years now but did you know you can now get voice-activated faucets? That’s right. With the U by Moen faucet, you are able to tell the faucet to turn on at 100 degrees or to dispense exactly one cup of water. It even has a handwashing feature to make sure you are scrubbing for at least 20 seconds. While there is a limited availability of styles, it does offer your typical variety of finishes.
Electric Range – Smart ranges allow you to remotely monitor and control your oven settings. You can pre-heat it, set different temperatures, set timers, etc
Refrigerator – Samsung has been a leader in smart fridge technology. The frig contains a giant tablet-like interface which acts as a Family Hub. You can use it to manage calendars, play music, share pictures, and more. There are 3 cameras inside the refrigerator to show you the contents. They may be accessed from your phone in case you are at the store and wondering whether or not you need an item. From the Hub you are also able to connect to other appliances, like a smart washing machine or a baby monitor.
Dishwasher – Using the app connected to your smart dishwasher, you can get phone notifications when a cycle is done or you can check on a cycle status using voice commands.
Countertop Appliances – Many countertop tools, gadgets, and food prep devices now come with smart features as well. This may include, but is not limited to, instapots, coffee makers, soap dispensers, toasters, scales, thermometers, and more!
Lighting – From high hats to undercabinet lights, to pendant lights and switches, all of these options now come with smart features. You use your voice to turn them on and off, dim the lights, even change lighting colors with certain LED bulbs. Alexa and Google assistant can be used to control these features as well as downloadable phone apps. You just want to make sure that all devices are compatible before you make your purchase.
Cleaning – Unfortunately, most cleaning is still done by hand. However, a Roomba or a central vacuum system can make keeping the floors clean just a little bit easier.
Is there a smart device you use in your kitchen that we haven’t mentioned?? If so, we would love to hear about it! What smart device do you find to be most useful in your kitchen?
