Zero Entry Shower Remodel

As modern and contemporary design become increasingly popular, zero entry showers have become a common design element of bathroom remodels.  Is the way to go in your renovation?  Here are some things to consider:

Functionality

As cost of living continues to rise, it is common to find several generations under one roof.  Without the common 4 inch curb that most showers have, there is less tripping hazard for small children and elderly parents. Zero entry is something that works for everyone.

Ease of Cleaning

A zero entry shower opens up the space leaving less corners and edges to clean.  You don’t have to step or reach over anything to get the furthest nooks and crannies of your shower. You can clean the rest of your bathroom floor and rinse it right toward the drain. *To make cleaning even easier, make sure you install a handheld sprayer/shower head option to make rinsing a breeze!

Maximizing Space and Availability

A shower curb is typically 5-6 inches wide.  With zero entry, this is an extra 6 inches of showering or bathroom space.  Additionally, there is no doubt you’ve spent money and time to pick a design you love.  Why not show off that beautiful tile work??

Before you say, “Sign me up!” there are a couple disadvantages to consider. First, water is obviously not as well contained.  If you are going with a zero entry shower in your bathroom remodel, make sure you choose a floor tile that has a matte finish or a slight texture to make it less slippery when wet. Secondly, there may be an additional cost factor. With zero entry, the shower floor still needs a slope toward the drain for sufficient water drainage.  This may require the rest of the bathroom floor to be built up a little more or the shower floor to be trenched to lower the drain and this can add time and labor.  With that being said, if it fits in your bathroom remodeling budget, zero entry showers are definitely a trend we love and recommend.
