Grey is not out yet but we will definitely be seeing less of it in the new year. So where are we heading?  Think sophisticated and serene – more color but in muted tones.  Base colors are trending more towards warm whites and honey tones with tranquil accent colors.

Benjamin Moore has already named their 2021 color of the year – Aegean Teal, a calm, comforting blue-green. Ocean blues will be a popular trend for the year. Earthy tones with bold pops of color will be popular as well.  Behr has chosen 21 colors for their 2021 color palette which they call “Elevated Comfort”.  Erika Woelfel, VP of color at Behr says,  “A new, ‘elevated’ articulation of ‘comfort’ goes beyond traditional beige, gray and green hues, and embraces color in a way that can redefine and enhance any type of space inside or outside the home.”

Sherwin Williams color of the year is Urbane Bronze.  It is a bold, earth tone but pairing it with warm neutrals makes it a versatile color that can be used for both interior and exterior design. Their 2021 collection contains 40 hues in 4 different palettes. Their forecast celebrates “the Rhythm of Color – the balance between fast and slow, quiet and expressive, and virtual and physical.”

As we all know, 2020 was a crazy year and as many of us have stayed home way more than usual, we have all become more aware of spaces that we would like to redefine.  It’s important to choose pleasant colors that will help increase your productivity. Pantone has labeled their 2021 palette “Synergy”. Synergy is defined as the interaction or cooperation of two or more organizations, substances, or other agents to produce a combined effect greater than the sum of their separate effects (Oxford).  Don’t we all want our home design to be synergistic?

We strongly encourage you to check out these different palettes and consider incorporating them into your next home remodeling project.  We have taken a deep look at these trending options and we are looking forward to the beautiful designs ahead in 2021.  Happy New Year!
