You’ve decided it’s time to remodel your kitchen. You’re so excited to get started! Then you realize how many options and choices are out there. You are spending a lot of money and you want to make sure you love it. Where do you even start? Our recommendation is to find a few inspiration photos of dream kitchens. Make a list of the specific things you like about each photo. We can combine your favorite elements from each picture so that you too can have a dream kitchen. Below is our list of places to look for inspiration:
Phone Apps: Houzz, Pinterest, and TapPainter
Magazines: House Beautiful, Architectural Digest, Beautiful Kitchens, Interior Design, and Homes and Gardens (Some of your favorite designers have their own magazine too – think the Scott Brothers or Chip and Joanna Gaines for example)
TV Shows: HGTV, DIY Network, Bravo Home, PBS, TLC, W Network
Open Houses: Drive around neighborhoods that you like on the weekend. You will often see open house signs for the homes on sale. It is a great way to get ideas in person.
Show Rooms: Most show rooms set up small kitchen vignettes to give you an idea what options are available. If there is something you like, an employee should be able to give you the exact name of the material and approximate cost so you can determine if it is realistic for your budget
Interior Designers: Last, but certainly not least, a designer can be a great help when trying to choose your finishes. They often have extensive product knowledge so they can help you achieve your desired look within your budget. Some showrooms will offer a designer’s input as a courtesy but most often, you will hire a designer separately. Not only can a designer help you choose finishes, they can make suggestions for maximizing space and efficiency in your kitchen.
At Custom Homes Building and Remodeling, we do recommend that you always start with some remodeling inspiration photos. However, we do also give you the option for having our project manager shop with you and help you choose finishes. We do also work closely with a number of professional designers.
